The sixth annual Jefferson City Community Symphonic Band Memorial Day concert will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, located at the corner of Adams Street and East Capitol Avenue.

Veterans will be honored with selections, such as "Stars and Stripes Forever" and "Duty Honor Country," narrated by Sgt. Maj. Jeremy Cobb.

A tribute to police and fire personnel will be delivered in the piece "Gabriel's Oboe" featuring oboist Leigh Anne Torres.

Other featured pieces include Dvorak's "Finale from New World Symphony," "Mayflower Overture" by Ron Nelson, "On the Trail" familiar from old western television shows, and the traditional negro spiritual "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair."

This will be the final concert for founder and director Paul Hinman.
