Six gardens west of Dix Road will be featured on the annual Bittersweet Garden Club Tour from 12:30-5 p.m. June 26.
Five gardens have been in development for more than 20 years, and three of the yards belong to club members.
"All the homeowners have worked countless hours making their garden perfect for the tour day in June," said organizer Linda Bledsoe.
The garden of Linda and Joe Oligschlaeger features a dry creek bed, shady backyard and a variety of seating areas highlighted with hosta, astilbe, hydrangea and annuals.
In just four years, Merrilee and Don Holzhauser have converted a blank canvas into a lush garden with a paved path leading through many perennial and shade beds
Cheryl and Jim Eichelberger have a well-planned garden, highlighted by a koi pond, mature oak trees and beds full of flowering beauties.
A modest-sized garden is packed with lots of containers and beds at Nancy Knipp's home.
Nancy Vostal's 30-year-old garden features a hosta-lined stairway and perennial color in the front.
Tucked in the woods, Mary and Richard Callahan's garden provides a surprise of flowers and garden art behind many tall oak trees.
Refreshments will be served at each garden.
The money from the tour helps to provide scholarships to area college students interested in horticulture type majors.
Tickets are available from club members or local garden centers. Tickets include the featured garden addresses and directions.
"You truly can not appreciate any garden until you step into the garden and see it for yourself," Bledsoe said. "If you love gardening, all these gardens will bring a smile to your face when touring them."
