The weather outside is frightful, but Capital City Productions is hosting a Christmas party that is sure to be delightful. CCP's "A Christmas Spectacular" promises audience members a spot on the guest list for a night featuring music, memories and more.

"We are harkening back to the yesteryear of television," director Brandon Sankpill said. The variety show is in the style of the 1963 Judy Garland Christmas Show, in which Garland shares the holiday with her family as a few friends informally drop by.

As the show begins, a storm is brewing outside and the characters are unsure whether anyone will show up to their holiday party. Soon, the doorbell rings and a special guest from a past Capital City Productions show appears. Musical numbers ensue with guests from "Rock of Ages," "Mary Poppins," and "Les Miserables" joining the merriment.

Sankpill emphasized the family atmosphere of the production.

"If it is someone's first experience with theater, this show is a wonderful place to start. The round tables make for great family outings and office parties."

The audience will be pleased to recognize the large array of Christmas songs sung by the some of the most talented members of Capital City Productions. Sankpill himself stars in the show, along with Tori Stepanek, MayMay Mason and Audie Cline among others.

Musical numbers include anything from "Mary Did You Know" to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

Evening performances will feature a buffet dinner by Argyle Catering on Friday and Saturday, and on Dec. 16-17. Dinner performance doors open at 6 p.m. with service starting at 6:30 p.m. and the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Performances with dessert will only be tonight and Dec. 15, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and performance beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Matinee performances with dessert are Sunday and Dec. 18, with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. and performance beginning at 2 p.m.
