Bio:

Eric Mayer, (55), is running for US House of Representatives–3rd Congressional District of Missouri. As a permanent resident of Camden County for over 30 years, Mayer continues to develop a deep understanding of his district and the needs of its constituents. Mayer is tired of the disconnect between Congressional Representatives and the people they represent. Mayer said, “We need a real citizen in office, one who knows the issues that effect everyday Americans. I am the one who can bring change and support initiatives that will positively affect the needs of the voters of District 3.”

Eric Mayer’s experience as a small business owner, operating Lake Winelectric , along with his degree in Business Administration from University Missouri–Kansas City, gives him valuable experience and knowledge of how the policies of federal and state government affect small business owners and their employees. Mayer said, “I support local business and job creation.”

Mayer believes through compromise the reform the tax code to encourage growth of the middle class through jobs creation. Mayor said, “We need to stop fighting each other and start compromising.” The middle class personifies the American Dream and it’s Eric Mayer’s duty to ensure the continued growth of the middle class. Mayer said, “I will not let the American Dream die because elected officials are fighting for their contributors and Parties, instead of working for their constitutes.”

Mayer and his wife of over 22 years, Sherline, have two children who both graduated from Camdenton High School, which also happens to be Eric’s Alma Mater. It is important for Mayer to support public education. Mayer said, “I must support protecting the needs of our young citizens in US Congress.” Mayer supports public school teachers and students and acknowledges the importance of this public service to our nation. He agrees that we should end billions of dollars of subsidies to the banks and use the savings to double the funding of Pell Grants.

As member of the Lake West Medical Board, everyday, Eric Mayer sees the needs of the retired Missouri population. Mayer said, “I believe in Medicare and Social Security. These programs are working right now to help our hardworking citizens, the ones whose long hours away from their families built the strong America that we know today.” It is Eric Mayer’s commitment to put Social Security and Medicare back on a sound foundation to relieve the anxiety of the people who rely on them. Eric Mayer acknowledges the importance of both private and public medical research. Without both, we will not find cures to illnesses like Alzheimer’s and cancer. Maintaining funding for public research at America’s finest institutions will one day bring a cure to life threatening illness. Alzheimer’s which effects 50% of the population over 80 years of age is a fight we must battle. Mayer said, “Let’s face it, we are all getting older and this will effect all of us. We must ensure the American public that answers are on the way.”

Mayer is member of the Board of Variance of Camden County, member of the Lake West Medical Board, member of the Lake West Chamber of Commerce, member of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce, and founding member of the Laurie/Sunrise Beach Rotary Club.
