BizBeat: Marble Graphics under new ownership

With the former owners nearby for any help and advice, the new owners are taking over.

Marble Graphics, an engraving shop that sells customized coasters, paperweights, awards, name badges, plaques and more, is under new ownership.

Founded in 1983, the business has been owned and operated by Dan and Kim Basler since it began. However, in April, the Baslers sold the business to Chris and Leslie Balk so they could retire.

The Balks closed on the business but weren't working full time in the shop until earlier this month. Now, with the Baslers nearby for any help and advice, the Balks are taking over.

Chris Balk said the previous owners wanted to keep the ownership local, but they didn't have any interested family members. Luckily, he was looking for a career change, and the match was made through Kim and Leslie, who work together.

Although Chris is new to the work, he's been learning from the Baslers and feels confident they will be able to keep up the customer service and quality Marble Graphics is known for and are happy to keep the business family and locally owned.

Marble Graphics is located at 2421 U.S. 54, just outside Jefferson City, and can be reached online or by phone.
