BizBeat: Jefferson City's Dressbarn closing up shop

Dressbarn in Jefferson City will close by the end of the year, manager Michelle Warner said last week.

The local store does not have an official closing date, Warner said, but she anticipates it will close around Christmas.

As part of the liquidation process, products at Dressbarn are currently 20-50 percent off. Warner expects the sales will increase as Christmas nears.

"All sales are final right now, and we're still here, getting in new products," Warner said, adding they recently received holiday products. "We have a ton of stuff coming in, and we are still getting new products for at least another couple of weeks, if not longer."

Dressbarn's parent company, Ascena Retail Group, announced earlier this year it would close all 650 stores and began the process earlier this month.

Last month, Ascena announced it had sold the intellectual property assets of Dressbarn to a subsidiary of Retail Ecommerce Ventures LLC, which plans to relaunch dressbarn.com in 2020, according to USA Today.
