Customers will soon see regularly discounted products at the Dillard's store in Capital Mall.

Dillard's is transitioning its Jefferson City store into a clearance center, one of 30 in Dillard's fleet of 300 stores, corporate spokesperson Julie Guymon said.

This means the Jefferson City location's stock will be clearance merchandise from neighboring Dillard's stores' full-service locations.

The clearance merchandise will be at least 65 percent off the full price and may occasionally be more discounted than that, Guymon said.

The corporation analyzes each store to determine the best fit for the market that store serves, Guymon said, and corporation officials thought the clearance center model would be the best fit for the Jefferson City location.

"Jefferson City is a great market for Dillard's, and we have enjoyed being there," she said. "We're looking forward to serving our customers from this new and exciting different format."

While the store will offer the same brands and selection, Guymon said, the clearance center may scale back its cosmetics selection.

As the store transitions into a clearance center, merchandise at Dillard's in Capital Mall is currently discounted, Guymon said.

While Guymon isn't sure how long the transition will take, she said the Jefferson City Dillard's plans to have a grand reopening in early December, just in time for the holiday season.
