BizBeat: D&D Outlet gives Russellville reason to shop local

Dana Northweather and her husband, Damon, were looking to add more to their community.

For most people living in Russellville, the 15 miles to Jefferson City is part of their shopping routine. Now, locals can shop at D&D Outlet at 12960 Route C for toys, clothes, shoes, school supplies and much more.

The Northweathers opened the Russellville business in November 2018, selling overstock items they receive by the truck load.

"It's kind of like a liquidation store," Dana said.

Stores like Walmart and Target that have too much of a product will sell to businesses in bulk, she said. The outlet then sells to customers for a lower price.

Racks are stocked with toy trucks and dolls in two sections of the store - a dream come true for their two school-aged boys who have to hear "no" to playing with most the items for sale.

In the back of the store, tables, chairs, stools and blinds are on display. Shelves full of bedding and planting items are available, too, but what sells the most are kitchen items and school supplies.

"It saves people trips to go to Jefferson City," Dana said.

The store is open 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. seven days a week.

Dana said she hopes having the store in town gives people in Russellville something to do together.

She suggests people buy what they like because deliveries come about once a week and the owners never know what items they will get.

The Northweathers also own D&D Main Street Market at 1937 West Main St. in Jefferson City. The business opened in spring 2009 and specializes in produce and flowers.
