3 LU administrators have been certified for fundraising skills

Three Lincoln University administrators have been certified for their fundraising skills:

Marcus Chanay, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

Andre Grinston, interim vice President for Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Carlos Graham, President Jerald Woolfolk's chief of staff.

Each has received the Certificate of Fundraising Management (CFRM) from the Eli Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.

"The Fund Raising School offers professional development courses aimed at equipping fundraising professionals with innovative skills to reach donors and achieve greater success in fundraising," an LU news release stated. "The Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy increases the understanding of philanthropy and improves its practice worldwide through critical inquiry, interdisciplinary research, teaching, training, and civic thanksengagement."

The news release training announcement followed Lincoln's decision to cut ties with the LU Foundation, which has rebranded itself and sued Lincoln over the change.

Lincoln's news release stated: "The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is the world's first school dedicated solely to the study and teaching of philanthropy.

"Established in 2012, the school was inaugurated in 2013 and named for one of America's great philanthropic families in honor of their generations of generosity and leadership.

"Indiana University has been at the vanguard of philanthropy education since the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University was founded at IUPUI (Purdue) in 1987."

Graham said, "The Lincoln University administrators completed the certification requirements during four-months of coursework on the Indianapolis campus.

"This continuing educational opportunity will translate into increased opportunities for Lincoln University students. Working in higher education and identifying sources for external funding is key to the survival of our institutions.

"The Fund Raising School has provided us knowledge and skills that will aid us in garnering support for our University, and more importantly, for our students. We promote lifelong learning at Lincoln University, and what we have learned will greatly benefit those who turn to us for an education."
