The entrance to the Red Sky Chinese Bistro is seen Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, behind Southside Barber Shop in the Old Munichburg neighborhood of Jefferson City. It was the last day the restaurant was open for business.

Red Sky Chinese Bistro in Jefferson City served its last plates of fried rice and General Tso's chicken Thursday.

Owner Jenny Shao said they decided to close the restaurant at 112 E. Dunklin St. to pursue other business ventures, including possibly another restaurant in the future.

"We are so appreciative that people have helped our business in the last few years," Shao said.

In a post on the restaurant's Facebook page, Shao wrote, "We are happy that we learned not only business, but also friendship and life."

The restaurant opened in Jefferson City's Old Munichburg area in November 2015.

Shao said the closure is a new chapter in her life.

"It's sad to see," Shao said. "We have a lot of good customers here. But really it's a happy ending."

Customers shared their disappointment about the closure in comments on the Facebook post, but also wished the owners luck in the future.
