BizBeat: Rick's Cafe to bid farewell Friday

Customers of Rick's Cafe have one more week to visit the restaurant in the Governor Office Building before it closes Friday.

Owner Rick Burgess opened the quick-serve restaurant inside the 200 Madison St. building in May 2012, catering primarily to people who work in downtown Jefferson City and who visit the Missouri state Capitol.

Rick's Cafe has served breakfast and lunch Mondays through Fridays.

Burgess, who has worked in the restaurant industry for more than 30 years, said it was simply time to move on.

To those who have been customers, he said: "Thank you for the support over the past seven years. It's been a pleasure serving them."

Burgess said the building's owner intends to find another restaurant to operate in the space.
