Discount retailer Dollar General confirmed this week it's considering opening a store in Wardsville.

Dollar General spokeswoman Angela Petkovic told the News Tribune the company is looking for locations around Wardsville that offer customers an easy and convenient shopping experience. If opened, the store would employ six to 10 people, Petkovic said.

Right now, Dollar General is securing all necessary permits to build the store.

Dollar General customers generally come from a 3- to 5-mile radius, so choosing a location will be important for the company, Petkovic said.

She added things still could change that scuttle the project.

"We are reviewing the opportunity to add a new store in the area, but we have not committed to doing so just yet," Petkovic said.
