BizBeat: Aldi offering same-day grocery delivery

Aldi became the latest Jefferson City retailer Thursday to offer same-day grocery delivery through San Francisco startup Instacart.

Based in Illinois, Aldi has a Jefferson City store at 2225 Missouri Blvd. Customers can visit instacart.com/aldi or download the Instacart app and place orders for delivery in as little as one hour. In July 2017, Schnucks began offering same-day grocery delivery through a partnership with Instacart.

Hy-Vee began offering same-day grocery delivery through Instacart in July. Target also offers same-day delivery though Instacart rival Shipt.

Aldi has more than 1,800 stores in 35 states and is in the midst of a nationwide rollout of services through Instacart.

Shipt and Instacart use independent contractors to fill and deliver orders. Instacart charges delivery fees per order or offers memberships through its Instacart Express service for $149 per year.
