BizBeat: Linn nursing home celebrates new owner

The new owner of Linn Living & Rehab will celebrate renovations being made to the nursing home Monday.

Arkansas-based nonprofit General Baptist Health Care took ownership of the facility Dec. 1 and renamed it General Baptist Nursing Home of Linn.

Since then, the company has begun renovating the facility's unit for patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Morgan Baker, the nursing home's business office manager, said the Alzheimer's wing is still under construction, but things like new paint and other touches to liven up the space are being made.

"It was just dull," Baker said. "We felt like it needed a little extra love to make it a more loving and happy place."

General Baptist also added a handful of positions at the facility, Baker said. The 132-bed facility currently has about 50 patients.

The Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Monday, followed by an open house until 6 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served, and a band will be on hand.
