Kia of Jefferson City, part of Jefferson City Autoplex on Missouri Boulevard, closed permanently last Wednesday.
The Kia dealership has been part of the vehicle sales group that includes Honda of Jefferson City, Hyundai of Jefferson City and Nissan of Jefferson City since long before current owner RFJ Auto Partners bought the dealerships from Corwin Automotive Group in 2015.
"It's not doing enough service work to keep it open, while the others are doing fine," Jefferson City Autoplex Executive Manager Chris Ehase said.
Jefferson City Autoplex opened a new, 51,000-square-foot Honda dealership at 3625 Missouri Boulevard last year, down the road from the main Autoplex campus.
Customers can have their Kia vehicles' maintenance needs served at Hyundai of Jefferson City, which also will honor all warranties from Kia of Jefferson City. For warranties that require service at a Kia dealership, Hyundai of Jefferson City will provide customers a courtesy loaned vehicle and transport their vehicle to the nearest Kia dealership in Columbia, Ehase said.
The Kia building at 3205 Missouri Blvd. is the only one of the dealership buildings Jefferson City Autoplex doesn't own, Ehase said. The group plans to lease the former Kia building.
