A new event space is rising in the middle of Turkey Creek Golf Center.

The new event center will be able to hold 550 people, with two indoor bars and indoor and outdoor seating.

Turkey Creek owner Danny Baumgartner said the space will be designed to host weddings and have rooms for brides and grooms.

Turkey Creek began planning the event space about a year ago. While similar spaces exist in the Jefferson City area, Baumgartner believes Turkey Creek has stunning views of nearby bluffs that help set it apart from other spaces.

"We felt the one thing we have over everybody is we have lakes and a nice view of the Capitol," Baumgartner said. "None of those places have the waterfall we have."

Turkey Creek also plans to hold small concerts at the space.

"We don't want to do it weekly," Baumgartner said. "But we can do it every few months."

Construction crews recently finished building the center's exterior. Baumgartner hopes the space will open in September.

Turkey Creek offers golf at two nine-hole, par-3 golf courses, as well as mini golf, a driving range and fishing.

Baumgartner said he wants his business to be accessible to families around the area. Children and military members can play the golf courses for free. The courses feature artificial turf greens, so they are wheelchair-accessible. A fundraiser in July raised enough money for Turkey Creek to buy three new disabled-accessible golf carts that make it possible for people with disabilities to play golf.

Adding the event space gives families another way to host events at Turkey Creek while also giving the business another revenue stream.

"We're really family-oriented," Baumgartner said. "We're really going to let people know they can use our facility at a pretty decent price."
