BizBeat: Vietnamese cafe opens on Missouri Boulevard

J Vietnamese Cafe opened at 1406 Missouri Blvd. on April 5.

The cafe serves Vietnamese food and drinks. General Manager Cassidy Troy said after the restaurant's grand opening she and its owner are excited for the shop to open.

Troy and owner Thang Tran began working on the project nine months ago. Tran also owns Nails First at 1922 Missouri Blvd. Tran previously owned a restaurant in Atlanta.

"He's all about entrepreneurship," Troy said.

The interior of the restaurant features handmade and imported decorations from Vietnam.

Beef, shrimp and chicken Vietnamese pho highlights the cafe's menu. A sandwich featuring pork or beef, vegetables and sauces including soy sauce is a staple of the menu.

Vietnamese crepes made from eggs and filled with meats like shrimp and sometimes cilantro round out the food menu. Coffee from Vietnam made with evaporated milk, boba teas with tapioca balls in the bottom, Jasmine tea and avocado smoothies fill are featured on the drink menu.

"We have no Americanized food whatsoever," Troy said.

J Vietnamese Cafe employs 12 people. Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Troy said the restaurant felt busy after it opened last week. She admitted some bumps needed to be ironed out still but felt excited about being in Jefferson City.
