The "coming soon" signs are up, so it's official: Jefferson City will gain an Ashley HomeStore later this spring.

Representatives of the Dufresne Spencer Group (DSG) confirmed the company's plans to open its 35th Ashley HomeStore location in the Wildwood Crossings shopping center at 3535 Missouri Blvd.

The Jefferson City store, taking the place of MC Sports, which closed its local store recently after pulling the plug on five under-performing stores last summer, will account for 15,000 square feet of space in the shopping development that's also home to TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Maurice's, Pier 1 Imports and a soon-to-open Home Goods.

The furniture and home decor retailer is set to open its Jefferson City store May 1.

"The expansion into the Jefferson City area is a testament to the growth and success of the people of this community," DSG President Chad Spencer said in a news release. "We're looking forward to opening our doors and pursuing our mission at DSG to be a blessing to our team members and our customers in Jefferson City."

The Ashley HomeStore location currently nearest Jefferson City is on Bull Run Drive in Columbia.

DSG, based in Memphis, Tennessee, operates several Ashley Furniture HomeStores, as well as a handful of Ashley Furniture HomeStore outlets and Stash home furnishings stores.
