BizBeat: New Goodwill now open

Goodwill opened its new Jefferson City store Saturday at 2821 S. Ten Mile Drive.

The store will hold its official grand opening at 9 a.m. Thursday after a ribbon-cutting at 8:50 a.m. The company announced plans to relocate from its old location at 1806 Missouri Blvd. in early 2016.

Construction of the new store began last fall after Goodwill received final zoning approval to demolish two buildings on the site of the new store.

Goodwill uses revenue from its retail stores to fund employment and rehabilitation programs, which help people facing economic, physical and mental disadvantages find employment. Services in these programs include software training and job development and placement activities.

"I am excited to give our customers a great shopping environment so that it's going to be very nice and pleasant in there," Dave Kutchback, CEO over Goodwill stores in Jefferson City and elsewhere in Missouri, said in a news release.
