Villa Marie StoneBridge Senior Living at 1030 Edmonds St. completed a 38-bed addition to its skilled nursing care facility last week.
Opened in 2015, the Jefferson City facility serves patients needing memory care treatment for degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia. StoneBridge opened the facility July 1 but held a ribbon cutting and open house last week to officially open the facility.
The center opened the Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Care unit in 2015 with just 10 beds. Cheznee Lee, StoneBridge regional marketing director, said those spaces quickly filled, and the the center immediately realized Jefferson City needed more memory care beds.
After opening July 1, 32 of the 38 new spaces filled up, and 42 of Villa Marie's 48 total memory care beds are filled.
Opened in 2008, StoneBridge has about 80 total beds and offers physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
Villa Marie has single-bed rooms and companion-bed rooms patients can choose depending on need and availability, Lee said.
