If you see the big orange "H" being removed from the Hobby Lobby storefront, don't panic.

The arts and crafts store at 2235 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson City isn't going anywhere - but it is getting an exterior facelift starting this week.

Commercial real estate agent and developer Larry Kolb, who owns the shopping center where Hobby Lobby is located, said the work to put up new signage and fresh paint should begin Monday and be completed within two weeks, weather permitting.

Next door, the former Hastings building will see similar updates. That building has been vacant several months, after the national retail chain announced last summer it would close all Hastings stores.

Kolb said the improvements to that building's storefront - including removal of the large, green Hastings sign - will lay groundwork for a new tenant whose lease currently is in negotiation. Kolb also obtained a building permit in March for interior demolition of the 2333 Missouri Blvd. building to remove old partitions, lighting and shelving.
