Jefferson City is about to lose a long-time grocery store.

Mighty MO Cash Saver, previously known for years as Moser's, announced this week it plans to close within the next two to three weeks.

"We have to make long-term decisions, and it wasn't in our best interest," said owner Roger Moser, who confirmed the locally owned grocery store chain opted not to renew its lease at 2411 Missouri Blvd.

Moser's Foods changed the Jefferson City store's name and pricing approach in April of this year, labeling all items at cost and adding 10 percent to each customer's total during checkout.

The grocery chain will continue to operate its other eight stores in Mid-Missouri, including locations in Holts Summit, Fulton, Ashland, Mexico, Warrenton and three in Columbia.
