BizBeat: Wheelhouse Pizza & Pub now serving slices daily

Jefferson City's newest pizzeria opened for business last week, serving up South Chicago-style pizza.

Wheelhouse Pizza & Pub is located at 458 Rock Hill Road, off North Missouri 179 and next door to El Espolon Mexican restaurant.

A few of the restaurant's specialty pizzas might sound familiar - and tasty.

The Rowdy Pizza, for example, is topped with a spicy mixture of chicken tossed in hot sauce with bacon and onions.

Owners Josh Bates and Sabrina Rademan Bates previously owned Rowdy's Bar & Grill in Russellville, which they operated for two years before closing this past February to pursue the new opportunity in Jefferson City limits.

The signature Wheelhouse Pizza offers a combination of pepperoni, bacon, jalapenos, mushrooms and onions. There's also the traditional supreme pizza or the more adventurous meatball pizza.

Wheelhouse Pizza & Pub also serves sub sandwiches and pasta, along with a full-service bar. A lunch buffet is available on weekdays and Sundays. Gluten-free options are available.

The restaurant had projected a late April opening, but the opening was delayed about a month.

"There were some construction delays that came up at the end, so we worked through those, and we got back on track," Sabrina Bates said.

A long-term goal to add Missouri-made beverages to the bar is still in the works.

"Some of our produce is from Missouri farmers," Bates said. "We made sure when we toured our food distributor that we asked which items were Missouri-made."

Wheelhouse Pizza & Pub is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m.-midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
