Elizabeth Nilges' new studio for her Holts Summit photography business, Studio 54, allows more space than her home business did for family portraits, senior photos and more.

After 27 years in photography, Elizabeth Nilges finally has her own studio.

Studio 54, in Holts Summit at 1753 Halifax Road just off U.S. 54, offers portraits, senior photos, weddings, event photography and more.

"It's a photography studio that does all types of photography," Nilges said. "There's probably nothing I can't do other than aerial."

Nilges has been doing photography work out of her home for the past 10 years, but this is the first time she's had a physical location dedicated to the business.

"It was never on this level," she said. "I never had the exposure of a building."

It's also the first time she's had a space big enough for large family portraits.

"I did a shoot with 20 people at my house once," she said. "That was hard - it was so hot. Definitely, I just needed room for more people at a time."

Making the space suitable for photographing portraits took an artist's eye as well, she said. The building most recently housed Smokin' J's tobacco shop. Nilges and her husband, Kevin, bought and renovated the building.
