Wilson's Fitness will close its Jefferson City business this month after nearly 17 years in business.

"This decision has been a long time coming and has been made with many factors under consideration," owners Davey and Keri Austin said in an emailed statement. "We want to personally thank each person that has helped make our business a success. We could not have been here without you! Thank you for your membership and even more your friendship through this time we have worked together. We encourage you to continue your interest in your personal health and fitness."

Wilson's Fitness had been located between the JCPenney and Sears wings at Capital Mall for years, before moving in late 2014 to the area of the mall near Dillard's that previously housed Capital 4 Theaters to make way for the Ross Dress for Less department store that opened in October 2015.

The gym offered personal training and nutrition counseling in addition to other fitness services.

Wilson's Fitness won the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year Award in 2010.
