The new Honda Dealership on Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City awaits its Jan. 9, 2017 opening.

Jefferson City AutoPlex plans a Jan. 9 opening for its new Honda dealership.

The car dealership announced plans for the new store at 3625 Missouri Blvd., just down the road from the main Jefferson City AutoPlex campus, last October - although the plan to expand there had been in place since before RFJ Auto Partners bought the Honda, Nissan, Kisa and Hyundai dealerships from Corwin Automotive Group.

The new dealership is more than 51,000 square feet.

Efforts to move the Honda inventory to its new home have already started and will kick into full gear in the next week or so, Sales Manager Nathan Hays said.

The next step is to remodel the former Honda store, which should take 60-90 days, Hays said. The Hyundai dealership, currently sharing space with Nissan, will get its own space there. After that, the existing Nissan store will get a facelift as well.

While the full sales department should be ready to go by Jan. 9, a relocation date has not been set for Honda's service department, Hays said.
