Lincoln baseball falls to Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH — The Lincoln baseball team dropped the first two games of a three-game series against Missouri Western, falling 6-2 on Thursday and 9-1 on Friday.

On Thursday, David Glaude of Missouri Western put the first run on the board with a solo home run in the first. An error in the second made it 2-0.

The teams traded runs in the fourth before Lincoln got within 3-2 in the sixth when Laban Petzoldt tripled in Mike Million.

The Griffons extended their lead to 6-2 with a pair of runs in the seventh and a single run in the eighth.

Mason Price and Petzoldt each had two hits for Lincoln.

Kolton Clark (0-10) was the losing pitcher, giving up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out two in seven innings.

Moore gave up one run on two hits in one inning of relief.

Richard Peoples (9-3) went the distance for the Griffons, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven.

On Friday, Jackson Walker went 2-for-4 for Lincoln.

Price had an RBI double in the sixth for the Blue Tigers’ lone run.

Zach Maskill (0-12) pitched seven innings for Lincoln, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and four walks while striking out two.

Cameron Massman gave up two unearned runs on two hits in one inning.

Weston Caindec (5-3) was the winning pitcher, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven in seven innings.

Lincoln drops to 1-47 overall and 0-38 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Missouri Western is 33-16 overall and 25-13 in conference play.

Game 3 of the series is at 7 p.m. today.
