Four arrested in drug raids

Law officers from multiple agencies executed simultaneous narcotics-related search warrants about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested four area individuals, according to Lt. Clay Chism of the Callaway County Sheriff's Department.

As a result of an ongoing multi-agency investigation, warrants were executed in Fulton about 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of St. Francois Street and in the 300 block of West Chestnut Street, according to a press release issued by Chism. Departments involved included the sheriff's office, Fulton Police Department and the Mustang Drug Task Force.

During the search warrant executions, the following subjects were arrested:

Joshua Byrd, 27, of Fulton, charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (meth);

Jeffrey Nash, 26, of Fulton, for possession of marijuana;

Cheyenne Tripp, 19, of Jefferson City, for felony possession of a controlled substance (meth); and

George Vanwart, 33, of Columbia, for outstanding Osage County traffic warrants.

Byrd, Nash and Tripp were all transported to the Callaway County Jail and posted bond. Vanwart remains incarcerated in the Callaway County Jail pending extradition to Osage County.

At the time of the arrests, Byrd was under the supervision of the state Board of Probation and Parole for other felony offenses.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.
