Lincoln baseball falls to Illinois-Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Six errors were costly for Lincoln on Tuesday as the Blue Tigers lost 11-5 to Illinois-Springfield.

Blue Tigers starting pitcher Daniel Castillo (0-4) allowed 11 runs, but only one was earned. He gave up eight hits, walked one, hit two batters and struck out three.

Cameron Massman only surrendered one hit in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Lincoln got within 5-4 with three runs in the fifth, but the the Prairie Stars scored six runs in the sixth, including a three-run home run.

Laban Petzoldt, Mason Price, Kaleb Davis and Alex Ludwick each drove in a run. Dillon Walker led Lincoln with two hits.

Kyle Strepek (3-1) earned the win for the Prairie Stars, striking out eight in just three innings. He allowed one run on one hit and a walk.

Lincoln drops to 1-46 overall with the loss. The Blue Tigers will close out the season with a three-game series at Missouri Western starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.
