The Pulitzer Prize-winning play "August Osage County" by Tracy Letts will be presented by Capital City Players.

Directed by Ken Thompson, this comedy-drama is the story of a dysfunctional family that comes together when the father of the family disappears.

Audiences may remember Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts in the big screen version. They both received Academy Award nominations for their roles.

According to Thompson, there are a lot of different story lines that come together at the end of the play, but it is primarily about the mother and three sisters.

"The story leans more toward drama, but there are moments of comedy," Thompson said.

The set, designed by Thompson, is complex with different levels and inside and outside settings.

"I feel it is an interesting set which will lend to the production," Thompson said.

Thompson credits Nate Gray with construction of the set. Thompson is also the light designer.

"The lights play a large role in the show, particularly with the complex set," Thompson said.

"This is a touching story with characters the audience will love and some they will hate. Characters you will be for and against," Thompson said.
