Isabell, Wright leaving Missouri

The Missouri Tigers' roster continues to shrink.

Sophomores Tramaine Isabell and Namon Wright will be the latest Missouri men's basketball players to transfer, the program announced Tuesday.

That makes four transfers from Missouri's five-man freshman class of 2014.

"We will fully support these requests on the condition of Tramaine and Namon completing their academic requirements to close the semester," second-year coach Kim Anderson said. "We appreciate what both Tramaine and Namon contributed during their time with the program and wish them the best as they continue to pursue their academic and athletic goals."

Montaque Gill-Caesar transferred from Missouri after his freshman season in 2014-15 and D'Angelo Allen, also a member of that class, announced his intent to transfer as his sophomore year came to a close. Jakeenan Gant, who recently underwent offseason shoulder surgery, is the only remaining member from the freshman class.

Missouri has now lost 11 players to either transfer or dismissal since Anderson was hired in 2014. The Tigers have gone 19-44 in that time.

Wright, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Los Angeles, led Missouri in rebounds with 5.2 per game in 2015-16 and averaged 9.6 points, third on the team. His 820 minutes played were a team high. His freshman year, he averaged 6.8 points in 20.2 minutes and shot 38.8 percent from 3-point range, a number that dropped to 31.5 percent his sophomore season. He scored 28 points against Florida as a freshman to help Missouri snap a school-record 13-game losing streak.

Wright was suspended two games his freshman year for misconduct and for Missouri's exhibition game against Missouri Western before the 2015-16 season.

Isabell, a 6-foot point guard from Seattle, averaged 6.2 points in 16.3 minutes per game his sophomore season, seeing added playing time after the dismissal of junior guard Wes Clark. He put up 4.1 points in 15 minutes per game as a freshman. He sent Missouri to overtime against Oklahoma State his freshman season with a 3-pointer made with 0.2 seconds remaining.

Isabell was suspended five games his freshman year and one game his sophomore year for behavioral problems.

Isabell and Wright would be the eighth and ninth players to transfer from Missouri since Anderson's hiring. Shane Rector transferred before playing a game under Anderson. Johnathan Williams III led Missouri in scoring during Anderson's first season before transfering for his final two years. Junior Deuce Bello and Gill-Caesar also announced their transfers after that season.

JUCO transfer Martavian Payne stepped away from the team before Anderson's second season to focus on studies. Missouri kept the scholarship empty as part of its self-imposed sanctions for NCAA violations, announced in January.

Torren Jones and Cameron Biedschied were dismissed from the team before ever playing under Anderson.

With Wright and Isabell's departures, four of Missouri's six leading scorers from 2015-16 are off the team. The dismissed Clark averaged 9.8 points and senior Ryan Rosburg averaged 7.5.

Missouri now has three scholarships open for next season. The Tigers have to forfeit a second scholarship by the 2016-17 season because of the sanctions.
