Missouri softball records split with Mississippi

OXFORD, Miss. - The Missouri Tigers split a softball doubleheader Sunday with Mississippi.

Missouri opened with a 2-0 win.

Danielle Baumgartner was the winning pitcher, scattering five hits and a walk in 41/3 innings. She struck out three. Tori Finucane got the save, working the final 22/3 innings. She didn't allow a baserunner and struck out three.

Missouri, which had just two hits in the game, scored single runs in the third and sixth innings.

Mississippi (21-5) took the nightcap 9-5, scoring all of its runs in the third inning.

Paige Lowary started for the Tigers, allowing three runs (all earned) on five hits and two walks. Finucane took the loss in relief, not recording an out while allowing two runs (both earned) on a walk and a hit-batter. Baumgartner finished the game, allowing four earned urns on seven hits.

Emily Crane, Sami Fagan and Amanda Sanchez all had two hits in a 10-hit Missouri attack. Crane scored twice, while Fagan drove in three runs.

Missouri (15-4, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) will host Western Illinois in a doubleheader Wednesday. The first game is slated for 4 p.m.

The teams played a doubleheader after Saturday's scheduled game was rained out.
