City sales taxes exceed projections

Jefferson City's sales taxes have exceeded projections every month in the 2016 fiscal year.

March sales tax receipts, which reflect the January reporting period, show the city's 1 percent general sales tax came in $177,865 above projections and is now $318,242 above projections for the year.

The half-cent capital improvement sales tax came in $95,393 above projections and is now $166,998 above projections for the year.

The half-cent parks sales tax came in $95,475 above projections and is now $167,701 above projections for the year.

The city's revenue forecast model is projecting a year-end surplus of roughly $920,000, though that number likely will fluctuate throughout the year as more data become available.

Sales tax projections are based on actual receipts averaged over the last two years.
