Lighthouse Preparatory presents "The Music Man'

There is trouble in River City, Iowa, and Lighthouse Preparatory Academy is staging the production of "The Music Man" to tell our "River City" audience the story.

Fast talking traveling salesman Harold Hill comes to town to con the citizens into buying band instruments and music lessons.

Hill doesn't know a trombone from a tuba and less about music. He plans to skip town when he has money but falls in love with Marian, the town librarian.

It is a case of a con artist versus the love bug, and love wins. The boys of the town form a band with new uniforms and a small knowledge of music, but the town is pleased and proud of the effort, and all is well.

Directed by Zoe Koelling, the cast of 35 has been rehearsing since January.

"We rehearse for a longer period of time because most of the school is in the show and students are also involved with various sports and other activities.," she said.

Mark Meyers is assisting with music direction and Mila Moore is assistant director. Rebecca Talbert is the pianist. Costumes are hand made by Deb Eilfong and Mike Harvey is the set builder.

Jared Deutsch is portraying Harold Hill, Mikayla Moore is Marian and her little brother Winthrop is played by Aden Koelling.
