Lincoln set to play at Northeastern State

The Lincoln women's basketball team will try to snap a three-game skid today when it faces Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Blue Tigers and RiverHawks are in a three-way tie with Lindenwood for 11th in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association with 3-11 conference records.

The RiverHawks snapped a six-game losing streak Thursday with a 61-54 win against Lindenwood.

Lincoln has lost three straight games by an average of 23 points.

The Blue Tigers beat Northeastern State earlier this season, a 63-52 win Dec. 14 at Jason Gym. The overall series between the teams is tied at two wins apiece.

Lincoln and Northeastern State are 12th (61.8) and 13th (56.2), respectively, in the MIAA in scoring.

However, the RiverHawks are 10th (65.6) in scoring defense while Lincoln is last (74.7).

Lincoln guard Hunter Yoakum has a chance to move into second place on Lincoln's all-time 3-pointer list.

She's three 3s away from tying Quenita Washington's 124 made 3s.

Yoakum made 3-of-5 from beyond the arc Thursday.

Thursday's 105-78 loss at Central Oklahoma for the Lincoln men's basketball team was its worst defeat since losing 89-55 to Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 14, 2014 in the Southwest Baptist Classic.

The Blue Tigers will try to rebound this afternoon at Northeastern State, which is coming off a 75-69 loss against Lindenwood on Thursday.

The RiverHawks enter today's 3:30 p.m. game tied for 12th in the MIAA with a 4-10 record, but one of their wins is a 92-73 victory against Central Oklahoma.

Also, Northeastern State only lost by four to Northwest Missouri State, which leads the MIAA.

In the last meeting between these two teams, the Blue Tigers won 86-61 on Dec. 14 at Jason Gym.

The RiverHawks have a 4-3 advantage in the series.

Northeastern State has the ability to score, as it averages more than 76 points per game compared to 80 for Lincoln.

However, the RiverHawks are last in the MIAA in scoring defense, allowing more than 80 points per game.
