Thursday night shooting in JC/suspect sought

Jefferson City police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Thursday night.

Police reports show the incident was reported just after 9 p.m.

A female resident reported to the 9-1-1 Communications Center that she was flagged down at the intersection of Dunklin and Broadway by a male who stated he had been shot.

Fearing for her safety, she told the male she would call 9-1-1, and police responded to the area.

The victim, a 50 year old Jefferson City resident, told responding officers he was riding his bicycle in the 800 block of Adams Street when he heard a pop and felt a strong pain in his left hand.

The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound in his left hand and was taken to Capital Region Medical Center who then referred him to the University Hospital in Columbia.

According to the victim, he rode his bicycle to a local convenience store after he had been shot and requested assistance, which was not given. He then went to a local pub and contacted a friend there, who drove him to Capital Region.

The victim has no information on the suspect and detectives are asking anyone with any information to contact the police department at 634-6400 or call the Jefferson City Area Crimestoppers at 659-TIPS.
