Lincoln women ranked No. 1 in track and field

The Lincoln women's track and field team is No. 1 in NCAA Division II in the first regular-season rankings by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released Tuesday.

The Lincoln women, ranked No. 5 in the preseason, earned 197.33 points in the system used by the organization. Lewis is No. 2 at 152.01, while former No. 1 Grand Valley State is third with 129.47.

Four other Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schools are also in the top 25 - Pittsburg State (fifth), Central Missouri (eighth), Missouri Southern (16th) and Northwest Missouri (22nd).

The Lincoln men are ranked No. 8, tops among MIAA schools. The Blue Tigers were unranked in the preseason.

Missouri Southern is ranked No. 11, while Pittsburg State is No, 24.

Grand Valley State leads the men's rankings, followed by Adams State, Saint Augustine, Minnesota State and Tiffin.
