Jeff City man found guilty of drug deal

A Cole County Jury found a Jefferson City man guilty of charges in connection with an undercover drug deal that occurred in March 2012.

Lawrence Mosely, 31, of 1224 Miller St., was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana.

The jury found him not guilty of unlawful use of a weapon.

An earlier count of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officers was dismissed.

A Missouri Highway Patrol probable cause statement shows an undercover officer bought a bag of marijuana from Mosely for $130 in the 800 block of Jackson Street. While trying to get into a vehicle with Mosely, he pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol, pointed it at the ceiling of the vehicle and directed the undercover officer to stay outside of the vehicle.

The second sale occurred at what was then Motel 6 on Jefferson Street with the undercover officer again paying Mosely $130 for a bag of marijuana.

There was no word on when sentencing would take place.

Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson said at the time of the trial, Mosely was incarcerated in the Department of Corrections serving a 12 year sentence for a previous first-degree conviction from Boone County and he has served or is serving time for convictions for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of firearm and receiving stolen property.
