Sedalia connections run deep for soccer hall inductees

Eddie Horn was one of four men inducted Saturday into the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in Columbia.

But he wasn't the only one with Sedalia connections.

Rockhurst coach Chris Lawson and Rolla boys and girls coach Mike Howard - Sedalia natives along with Horn - were also inducted during the ceremony.

Horn, Lawson and Howard have coached teams for more than a combined 2,600 games in their careers, including more than 1,800 victories.

Horn served as coach of a club team that Lawson and Howard played on many years ago.

"I guess I didn't screw them up," Horn said. "They've been friends with me forever, we've had great talks through the years supporting each other."

Rockhurst was the opponent for Jefferson City's final home game last season and Lawson and the Hawklets presented Horn a plaque in recognition for his service to Missouri soccer during a pregame ceremony.

"That was a classy move by Chris to do that here," Horn said. "There was nothing in it for him. Chris did it at our place and it was nice of him to acknowledge me."

The other inductee Saturday was Ben Timson of Springfield Catholic.
