Jays, Helias to face Nixa, Ozark in quad

The Jefferson City Jays and Helias Crusaders will be wrestling tonight at Fleming Fieldhouse.

Just not against each other.

Jefferson City and Helias will each wrestle duals against Nixa and Ozark in action scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

"It's going to be a great thing for the wrestling community in Jefferson City," Jays coach Phil Cagle said. "It's a chance to bring everybody together for a good night of wrestling."

The Jays will open against Ozark, then take on Nixa. Helias will wrestle Nixa before facing Ozark.

"They're both big schools and I think it's good for our kids to wrestle against that type of competition," Helias coach Bryant Gaines said.

Helias is 5-1 in duals after defeating Rock Bridge and Camdenton in duals Tuesday at Rackers Fieldhouse.

"I hope we can show them a few things," Gaines said. "I'm always looking for our individual kids to show improvement, but I'm also looking to win a dual or two."

The Jays, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 4, are 4-0 this season after defeating Rolla in a dual Wednesda. Jefferson City will take a school-record 36-dual winning streak into tonight's action.

"We want them to be great duals for all the teams," Cagle said. "It's going to be great to have Helias here, we're all Jeff City. We always root for them, except for when we wrestle them."

The Jays and Crusaders will get very familiar with each other during the next couple of weeks.

Jefferson City and Helias will wrestle in the Capital City Invitational on Jan. 15-16 at Fleming Fieldhouse before they meet in the annual crosstown showdown Jan. 20 at Rackers Fieldhouse.
