Your Opinion: GOP "hypocrisy' on Medicaid

Dear Editor:

Each year around Veterans Day our two local legislators, Sen. Mike Kehoe and Rep. Tom Hurst, along with many other Republican legislators will praise all veterans for their service. While that is commendable, one thing is very sad.

It is a known fact that over 100,000 vets in Missouri can't get health insurance, along with over 200,000 other Missourians, simply because the extreme Republican Missouri legislators will not allow Medicaid to be expanded in the state. These vets fall within that hole that prevents it.

I call these legislators hypocrites. I could call them other things too, but I won't. If that isn't hypocrisy I don't know what else to call it. This is money that the federal government has specifically provided for that purpose.

Everyone needs to get on the phone or speak to them and ask them why. Why they continue to deny these veterans that right to have health insurance. After the service they gave to this country it should be without question.

Shame on all the Republican legislators for being so inconsiderate.
