Boys Basketball: St. Elizabeth, Chamois advance

JAMESTOWN, Mo. - Wyatt Stiles hit a 3-pointer with about 20 seconds to play Thursday to send fifth-seeded St. Elizabeth to overtime, where it beat top-seeded Tuscumbia 41-35 to advance to the Class 1 District 9 title game.

St. Elizabeth led 12-5 after one quarter and 20-14 at the half. The Hornets led 25-22 at the end of three quarters but were outscored 6-3 in the fourth before winning the overtime period 13-7.

Mason Kemna scored 13 points to lead St. Elizabeth, and Dakota Kemna added 12. Orrie Patterson was Tuscumbia's leading scorer with 12 points.

The Hornets (8-15) will play Chamois at 6 p.m. Saturday for the district championship.

The Pirates advanced Thursday with a 33-27 defeat of second-seeded Jamestown.

Aaron Brandt led the third-seeded Pirates with 14 points in the low-scoring affair. Garrett Wolfe scored 10 points to lead Jamestown.

Chamois (11-14) took a 10-2 lead into the second quarter and scored just two more points before half but still led 12-5. Jamestown cut the lead to 17-15 after three quarters but was outscored 16-12 in the final period.
