BELTON, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper is winning praise after rescuing a driver from a burning car south of Kansas City.
The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/1o6SoMV) reports that part of the dramatic rescue was caught on dashcam video that was released this week.
Trooper Jim Thuss and an off-duty deputy are seen dragging 60-year-old Becky Crawford away from her car before flames engulfed the vehicle last week near Belton.
Moments earlier, Thuss had turned on his lights to stop a speeding vehicle before it ran a red light and smashed into Crawford's car. Thuss then rushed to Crawford's vehicle.
The victim's husband, Ron Crawford, says he's thanked Thuss for risking his life and called him a "genuine hero."
The driver who caused the crash fled, and was arrested later.
