Prep Football: Area players honored

Several area players recently earned academic all-state status from the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

In order to make the academic all-state team, players must: be nominated by their head coach, who must be a current member of the MFCA; be a starter on offense or defense, or be a punter or a kicker in 70 percent of the games; and be a sophomore, junior or senior. Then they must meet two of the following three criteria: score a 25 or higher on ACT or 1740 on the SAT; have a GPA of 3.5 or higher (non-weighted); and rank in top 10 percent of their class.

Those players honored from each school included:

• Blair Oaks - Chance Cumpton, Owen Luebbering.

• California - Aaron Kendrick, Ethan Hodges, Clayton Percival.

• Eldon - Cole Walker.

• Helias - Adam Bax, Alex Werner, Cole Vanderfeltz, T.J. Hagenhoff, Kale Gerstner, Nolan Sachse.

• Jefferson City - Charles Nelson, Daniel Miller, Jalen Martin.

• School of the Osage - Dylan Riley.

• Southern Boone - Trevor Garriott, Dane Bossert, Fletcher McCune.

• Tipton - Jonathan Petree.
