Lincoln track competes in Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG - The Lincoln women's track and field team won eight events in the Mule Relays hosted Friday and Saturday by the University of Central Missouri.

Yanique Ellington was a double winner, taking the crowns in both the 60-meter dash (7.63) and the 200-meter dash (25.09). Her time in the 60-meter dash was a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.

In the 60-meter dash, Lincoln's Adewumi Ademuwagun was second (7.76) and Diana Cauldwell was fourth (7.84). In the 200-meter dash, Ademuwagun was third (26.35), Cauldwell was seventh (26.92) and Kimona Shaw (26.93) was eighth.

Cauldwell picked up a win in the triple jump, posting a distance of 12.02 meters, while Jonelle Campbell was the runner-up at 11.24 meters. Cauldwell's distance was a provisional qualifying mark.

Ademuwagun was victorious in the long jump (18- 1/4), Tina Coombs was second (17-11 3/4) and Cauldwell was third (17-9).

Kissi-Ann Brown won the 400-meter dash in 58.23.

The Blue Tigers took the top two spots in the 800-meter run, with Monique Thompson winning (2:15.74) and Shanice Clarke placing second (2:21.57).

Nadia Harriott won the 60-meter hurdles (8.97), while Lexanna Morgan finished fifth (9.15).

In the 600-yard run, Ebony Rose took third (1:28.81). Shaw took fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.37) and Tajera Lawkin came in seventh (1:03.99).

Brown, Jhevere Hall, Rose and Clarke won the 4x400-meter relay (3:55.41).

Central Missouri's Amy Dorge (Blair Oaks High School) took second in the weight throw (50-4) and second in the shot put (43-5 1/4).

The Lincoln men won five events at the Relays.

Orneldo Thomas led the way, winning the long jump with a leap of 7.07 meters and placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.49 meters. Thomas' finishers were both provisional qualifying marks for nationals.

Lincoln's Tae'Mon Franklin was the runner-up in the long jump (6.75 meters) and Owen Smith was third in the triple jump (13.95 meters).

The Blue Tigers dominated the 200-meter dash, posting six of the event's top-eight finishes, including spots 1-5. Miguel Barton won in 22.241, while Roberto Smith was second at 22.244. Roger Blake took third (22.34), Stephen Rose was fourth (22.56), Nicholas Khouri was fifth (22.67) and Jakiel David came in eighth (23.20).

Lincoln also swept the top-two spots in the 600-yard run, with Jeromia Riley winning (1:11.71) and Alva Henry taking second (1:14.69).

Kevon Robinson won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.75 and Lincoln's final victory came in the 4x400-meter relay, where Khouri, Barton, Riley and Robinson posted a time of 3:26.52.

Faedeon Royes was second in the 400-meter dash (48.74), a provisional qualifying time.

Three Blue Tigers placed in the 60-meter dash - Rose was second (6.86), David took fifth (7.01) and Khouri came in sixth (7.10). Rose's mark was a provisional qualifying time.

Competing unattached, former Blue Tiger Wilbert Walker won the triple jump (51-11 3/4) and took third in the long jump (21-10 1/4). Another former Blue Tiger, Mandela Clifford, won the 60-meter dash (6.83).

Up next for the Blue Tigers is the Fred Wilt Invitational, which will be hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., on Friday and Saturday.
