Documentary to air about conviction in sports editor's death

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- A documentary has begun showing about a man whose conviction in a Columbia sports editor's death was overturned after he served nearly a decade behind bars.

The Columbia Missourian (http://bit.ly/1mnFGHI ) reports that the movie, "Dream/Killer," can be seen through Wednesday at the Ragtag Cinema in Columbia.

It tells the story of Ryan Ferguson and his family's effort to free him after he was convicted in the 2001 killing of Columbia Daily Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt.

Ferguson was released in 2013 after an appeals court panel ruled that he didn't receive a fair trial because the prosecutor's office withheld evidence.

The documentary is directed by Andrew Jenks, who is known for his documentaries such as "Room 335" and "The Zen of Bobby V," as well as MTV's "World of Jenks."
