LU baseball team drops doubleheader

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Lincoln University baseball team dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Maryville.

The Blue Tigers lost the first game 17-6 and the second game 5-3 on a two-run walk-off home run.

In game one, Lincoln used a five-run second to take a 5-2 lead.

Jeffery Jackson had an RBI triple to score Zach Anderson before Kolton Clark doubled in Dylan Koehler and Jackson.

Dillon Walker singled in Clark for the fourth run and Walker later scored when Kaleb Davis reached on an error.

But Maryville scored 10 in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Davis singled in Daniel Castillo in the fourth.

Mason Price, Walker and Mike Million each had two hits for Lincoln.

Kyler Lundgrin pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the Blue Tigers. He allowed zero hits, struck out four and walked two.

In game two, Tyler Catlett hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to end the game

Lincoln led 3-0 after the first inning, but Maryville scored two in the third and one in the fourth.

Mason Price had an RBI single to score Clark and Walker later scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0 Lincoln.

Price scored on a Davis groundout to the shortstop to make it 3-0.

Cody Stegemann allowed four runs on six hits in six innings on the mound. He struck out two and walked two.

Lincoln (0-3) will finish the four-game series at noon today.
