St. Louis woman on probation for Jefferson City theft, chase

A St. Louis woman was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges in connection with stealing from a Jefferson City business and a car chase with authorities in November 2014.

Deonyia Johnson, 29, pleaded guilty to felony stealing and resisting arrest.

A charge of second-degree assault was dismissed.

According to police reports, Johnson was with a group that took more than $3,000 from Dick's Sporting Goods in the Stoneridge Parkway shopping center.

Based on witness descriptions, the vehicle the group drove away in was spotted a short time later at West Main Street and West High Street.

As a police officer attempted to stop the vehicle for investigation, the car swerved in an attempt to strike the patrol car, then fled the area.

Authorities chased the vehicle north until it reached Fulton, where tire spikes were deployed, causing the vehicle to malfunction, and the group was taken into custody.
