State to audit tax procedures in Cass County

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The state auditor has announced plans to audit Cass County's procedures on Tax Increment Financing districts.

The office of Auditor Nicole Galloway said in a release Thursday that the Cass County Commission requested the audit, which will review aspects of the TIF's, including its impact on tax revenues within the county.

TIF districts are generally created for economic development purposes.

The office says it's also currently auditing the City of Harrisonville, which is Cass County's county seat.
