Girls Basketball: St. Elizabeth 54, Bourbon 41

NEWBURG, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets used a big third quarter to beat the Bourbon Warhawks 54-41 on Thursday in the loser's bracket semifinals of the Newburg Tournament.

The Lady Hornets led 16-13 after the first quarter and 21-20 at halftime before outscoring the Warhawks 16-7 in the third quarter to lead 37-27.

Brooke Struemph of St. Elizabeth recorded her eight double-double of the season with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Shanley Kliethermes of St. Elizabeth added eight points and three assists.

Bri Flowers of Bourbon scored 18 points.

St. Elizabeth (5-12) will play Vienna in the fifth-place game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
